General Questions
1What is Social and Development Alliance (SDA)?
Social and Development Alliance (SDA) is a Shariah-compliant social welfare initiative of Darul Khair. SDA provides Qarz-e-Hasana (interest-free benevolent financial assistance) and supports individuals and families facing genuine financial hardship while promoting financial inclusion, self-employment, and community development.
2Is SDA a Bank or NBFC?
No.
SDA is not a bank, Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC), money lender, or commercial finance company. SDA is a charitable initiative operated by Darul Khair.
3What is Qarz-e-Hasana?
Qarz-e-Hasana is an interest-free financial assistance provided for a genuine need. The borrower is required to return only the original amount without paying any interest (Riba), penalty, or hidden charges.
4Who can apply for Qarz?
Eligible Indian citizens who satisfy SDA's eligibility criteria, verification process and documentation requirements may apply.
5Can non-members apply?
Yes.
Eligible non-members may apply for Qarz up to ₹3,000, subject to SDA policy, including guarantors and Masjid verification.
6Is approval guaranteed?
No.
Every application is individually assessed based on:

- Availability of funds
- SDA policy
Submitting an application does not guarantee approval.
7Does SDA charge interest?
No.
SDA never charges:
- Interest (Riba)

Membership
9How can I become an SDA Member?
You can register through the SDA Website or Mobile App and start contributing according to your chosen membership plan.
10Is membership compulsory?
No.
Membership is voluntary.
However, Members may receive additional eligibility benefits under SDA policies.
11Are membership contributions refundable?
Generally, no.
Membership contributions are charitable donations and are generally non-refundable except where required by law or verified duplicate or erroneous transactions.
12Will I receive any profit or return?
No.
Membership is purely charitable.
Members do not receive:
- Interest
- Profit
- Ownership
- Investment returns
Qarz Application
13How do I apply for Qarz?
Applications can be submitted through the SDA Website or Mobile App by completing the application form and uploading the required documents.
14What documents are required?
Depending on the application, SDA may request:
- Aadhaar Card
- PAN Card (where applicable)
- Address Proof
- Income Proof
- Bank Details
- Guarantor Details
- Masjid Verification
- Any additional supporting documents
15How long does approval take?
Approval time depends upon:
- Verification
- Completeness of documents
- Committee review
- Availability of funds
16Can SDA reject my application?
Yes.
SDA may approve, defer or reject applications based on its policies and eligibility requirements.
17If my application is rejected, can I apply again?
Yes.
You may submit a fresh application if your circumstances change or after addressing the reasons for rejection.
Repayment
18When do I need to repay my Qarz?
Repayment begins according to the repayment schedule agreed upon at the time of approval.
19Can I repay early?
Yes.
Partial or full repayment can be made at any time without additional charges.
20What if I cannot repay on time?
You should immediately inform SDA.
After verification, SDA may review your circumstances and consider rescheduling your repayments.
21What if I lose my job?
If you experience genuine hardship due to unemployment, illness, accident or another emergency, inform SDA immediately.
Each case is reviewed individually.
22Will SDA charge late payment fees?
No.
SDA never charges:
- Late fees
- Penalties
- Interest
23What happens if I intentionally refuse to repay?
If a borrower deliberately avoids repayment despite having the financial ability to repay, SDA may:
- Issue reminders;
- Contact guarantors;
- Suspend future eligibility;
- Restrict access to SDA programmes; and
- Initiate civil and/or criminal proceedings where applicable.
24Will SDA blacklist me?
Where appropriate, SDA may restrict future assistance after due verification and after providing the borrower a reasonable opportunity to explain.
25Can someone else repay my Qarz?
Yes.
Anyone may make repayment on behalf of the borrower, provided the correct borrower details are supplied.
26What happens if I accidentally pay extra?
After verification, SDA may adjust the excess amount, refund it where appropriate, or treat it as a voluntary donation with your consent.
Guarantors
27Why do I need guarantors?
Guarantors help verify your identity, credibility and assist SDA in maintaining communication when necessary.
28Are guarantors responsible for my Qarz?
The borrower remains primarily responsible for repayment.
The guarantor's role is to support verification and communication.
Zakaat Fund
29Does SDA accept Zakaat?
Yes.
SDA maintains a separate Zakaat Fund.
30How is Zakaat used?
Zakaat is distributed only in accordance with Islamic principles and to eligible beneficiaries after verification.
31Can my Qarz be settled through the Zakaat Fund?
Where a borrower qualifies as Gharimeen (debtors) under Islamic principles and satisfies SDA's eligibility requirements, SDA may consider assistance through the Zakaat Fund after verification and subject to availability.
Donations
32Can I donate without becoming a Member?
Yes.
Anyone may make a voluntary charitable donation.
33Will I receive a receipt?
Yes.
Electronic acknowledgements and receipts are issued after successful transactions.
34What if my payment fails?
Please report payment issues within 72 hours so SDA can investigate and assist you.
Privacy & Security
35Is my personal information safe?
Yes.
SDA processes personal information in accordance with applicable Indian laws and its Privacy Policy.
36Does SDA sell my information?
No.
SDA does not sell personal information to third parties.

Users must not attempt hacking, fraud, spam, malware distribution or unauthorised access.

Yes.
Accounts may be suspended for fraud, misuse, false information or violation of SDA policies.
Appeals

Applicants may submit a written appeal within the time specified by SDA.
40Who reviews appeals?
Appeals are reviewed by the authorised SDA Committee.
